This research sought to validate the dimensions of Competence in Information Technology (IT) in technology-based companies located in Brazilian Technology Centers and/or Parks. The methodological approach was of a quantitative nature, of the descriptive type, with the use of an electronic questionnaire sent to the managers of the companies registered in Poles and/or Technology Parks through electronic address, from July to November 2021, which resulted on a sample of 107 valid responses. For data analysis, structural equation modeling was used, using the SmartPLS 3.3.3® software. A positive, meaningful relationship was found, which enabled the validation of the six proposed dimensions for IT competence. The contributions of the article are the understanding of the path and relationship between the constructs, as well as the understanding that organizations are in constant development and need the skills to deal with the challenges of the complex and dynamic environments in which they operate, obtaining in the discussions and advances theorists the application of IT skills to competitive advantage.
