Abstract

This paper aims to address a problem often faced by civil engineers. The pathological manifestations, the oxidation of reinforcement in reinforced concrete structures. The term pathology is used in civil engineering when there is a drop in the performance of a product or component of a structure. It will analyze the origin involved in the corrosion process, the mechanisms of this phenomenon, suggesting some preventive measures, repairing against such deteriorating processes. The case study will analyze and execute the restoration of a tower-type water tank, the structure of which was built in reinforced concrete and presents deterioration caused by the service life, located in an industry Guarulhos, will be executed its recovery of the exposed steel, covering walls and waterproofing, The realization of the case study is an attempt to expand existing records and thus expand the knowledge and development regarding the oxidation in reinforced concrete structures.
