Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the risk factors of Burnout Syndrome (BS) among university professors, investigating its impact on mental health and professional performance, as well as proposing strategies to mitigate its effects. A bibliographic research approach was adopted, reviewing studies such as those by Maslach and Jackson (1981), Borsoi (2012), and Carlotto and Diehl (2014). The findings indicated that the overburdening of academic tasks and the lack of institutional support are key factors contributing to the development of BS, which negatively affects both teachers' health and the quality of education. It was concluded that measures such as psychological support and improved working conditions are essential for preventing Burnout and enhancing the quality of life and professional performance of educators.
